Rob Scotcher Photography A Love for Nature

My photography is the accumulation of hard work driven by a passion founded in combined interests of the natural world and science, beginning with my first camera (bought second hand with money I saved from paper rounds and odd jobs). Taking photos of my pet cat “Fluffy” in appreciation of them; yet fascination of natural world outside my reach in Dagenham, UK.

London gave an understanding of the beauty ignored by most. Mainly in the common garden bird or the humble hedgehog, developing my bird spotting skills using “Spotters guidebooks”, where I learnt to start capturing the images of birds and creatures seen in gardens and parks and often forgotten by others with my camera.

Yet the biggest shift to come with my move to Aotearoa New Zealand in the early 2000s,

from which I was able to start exploring the birdlife these islands had to offer.

This website will be my gallery of works that capture many different emotions for myself, and hope for you too.

Whether from nostalgia of lost childhood daydreams to admiration for

the feathered folk and their magical presence.

However, at the core of my photography are some promises you myself and to you whether just a visitor, or as a customer of mine:

Finding an appreciation in the overlooked, or unseen from the humble butterfly to white faced herons looking for its next kai,

Presenting natural world of Aotearoa New Zealand, the country I have been lucky to call home since 2005,

Craftsmanship and care in my art to provide the image you cherish on the finest media.

If you are looking for that special image of kiwi nature for your household, or office to admire for times to come it is here. Captured by a photographer on a remarkable journey, learning his craft and honing his skill through the ignored wildlife of our urban towns and cities to an appreciation of the colourful, charming and challenging wildlife of Aotearoa New Zealand.
